Dowton Abbey’s Bates And Hope
Maybe it was Bates from Dowton Abbey or an interview with a Syrian refugee or a comment by a destitute organic dairy farmer from Vermont, but one of these persons spoke about the power of hope. It may have been all three.
A Heart Transplant ER Moment
Weekends are the worst time to develop a serious complication. There is always a disconnect between the on-call nurse and the ER.
Heart Transplant And The Release Technique
Happy Holidays to all and especially to all those waiting for heart transplantation and those who are in transplant recovery! In my last article, I mentioned the theory of epigenetics, which states that your outer (epi) genetics or environment has at least as much influence and in some cases more influence with your four quadrants; health, [...]
Heart Transplant and YOU
For me, the heart transplant recovery has been arduous but gratifying. A blessing really. In some earlier posts, I mentioned a seminar on the psychological aspects of transplantation held at Columbia Pres. The stories were interesting. So many of the things in our lives evolve around numbers. Athletic scores, golf scores, business budgets, income, accounts payable, days on the [...]
My Name is Hiland, One Lucky Guy!
While awaiting release from Tampa General Hospital, I decided there were things patients might want to hear from a wait list survivor and heart transplant recipient. So, this site is my open heart surgery, congestive heart failure, wait list, transplantation and recovery experience. I hope it helps everyone who visits. Regardless, I am one lucky guy and the first thing I do every morning is say, “Thank you!”
